Joseph F. Lapinsky is an Operating Advisor at AFI Partners, providing operational and financial management support to AFI Partners portfolio companies. Mr. Lapinsky has over 35 years of experience in the industrial sector and restructuring bankrupt companies. Mr. Lapinsky is currently President, Chief Executive Officer of ASARCO, Inc. and was appointed to this position in June 2006 to lead the restructuring of ASARCO after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. At the time of this Memorandum, ASARCO is the second largest debtor under bankruptcy protection in the United States. From February 2000 to June 2006, Mr. Lapinsky served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Republic Engineered Products, Inc. and its predecessor companies. The Principals worked with Mr. Lapinsky as a team during their successful turnaround and sale of Republic Engineered Products, Inc. From August 1999 to February 2000, Mr. Lapinsky served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Bar Technologies Inc.; he also served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Republic Engineered Steels, Inc. from October 1998 to August 1999. From 1991-1995, Mr. Lapinsky was Executive Vice President and Principal at Autumn Industries, Inc., and from 1971-1991, Mr. Lapinsky was Executive Vice President of Copperweld Steel Company. Mr. Lapinsky earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Fairmont State College and his Master of Business Administration from Youngstown State University.
